Approval of Elemental’s battery recycling project by European Commission under IPCEI framework

Koala

We are happy to inform, that our project of building li-ion battery recycling plant in Poland, have been approved for public funding by European Commission as a part of IPCEI (Important Projects of Common European Interest) on batteries. IPCEI framework was developed to support projects that benefit the EU by making “a very important contribution to sustainable economic growth, jobs, competitiveness and resilience for industry and the economy in the Union and strengthen its open strategic autonomy”.

Our project is a part of pan-European integrated project “IPCEI on batteries”, which consists of in total 17 projects developed by direct participants, mostly industrial actors, from Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden. Overall sum of approved public support by seven Member States reached 3,2 billion EUR.

The IPCEI project participants will focus their work in four areas:

  1. Raw and advanced materials.
  2. Cells and modules.
  3. Battery systems.
  4. Repurposing, recycling and refining.

With this integrated IPCEI on batteries project, Elemental takes part in the workstream 4 – Repurposing, recycling and refining, and our project aims at development of innovative technology of li-ion battery recycling and first industrial deployment of developed technology.
